feu doux
feu doux is an instrumental music duo composed of Christophe Lamarche-Ledoux (Organ Mood, Chocolat) and Stéphane Lafleur (Avec pas d’casque).
At the Festival de musique émergente in September 2012, Lafleur discovered Lamarche-Ledoux’s work and his Organ Mood project in a Rouyn-Noranda alleyway. Taken by the timeless, spellbinding music, he decided to use it as the soundtrack for his third feature film, Tu dors Nicole (2014). In addition to the already existing pieces, Lamarche-Ledoux composed some segments specially for the film. They ended this first collaboration with a promise to work together again soon in a form that they had not yet determined.
In 2015, author and director Félix-Antoine Boutin asked Lafleur to compose the music for his next theatrical creation, Animal mort, which was scheduled for 2016. Christophe joined forces with Lafleur, and together, they created the soundtrack for the show. However, Lafleur wasn’t fully satisfied because he wanted a project that would take him even further away from the folk singer-songwriter style of his group Avec pas d’casque.
In fall 2016, inspired by the ambient music of Brian Eno and his successors, Lafleur began sending instrumental tracks to Lamarche-Ledoux with the goal of composing music that would allow listeners to effortlessly slip into daydreams or drift off to sleep. Thus began a musical correspondence that would last until the summer of 2017 and yield feu doux’s first album.

feu doux cover

feu doux is a new minimalist instrumental project that is the fruit of the musical correspondence between Stéphane Lafleur (Avec pas d'casque) and Christophe Lamarche-Ledoux (Chocolat, Organ Mood). Created between fall 2016 and summer 2017, feu doux presents a series of ambient melodies intended as much for listeners settling in for a nap as those beginning a nocturnal road trip or a flurry of writing.
