Biography

feu doux is an instrumental music duo composed of Christophe Lamarche-Ledoux (Organ Mood, Chocolat) and Stéphane Lafleur (Avec pas d’casque). At the Festival de musique émergente in 2012, Lafleur discovered Lamarche-Ledoux’s work and his Organ Mood project. Taken by the timeless, spellbinding music, he decided to use it as the soundtrack for his third feature film, Tu dors Nicole (2014). In the fall of 2016, Stéphane sent instrumental tracks to Christophe, with the goal of composing music that would require little effort on behalf of the listener, other than surrendering to sleep or to one’s daydreams. As a result, the two began a musical correspondence that lasted several months and led to the debut album of feu doux (February 2018). In the months following the release of the album, Lafleur developed an interest in modular synthesizers. The duo retreated in a chalet for a few days to explore the creative possibilities of these new instruments, laying the foundation for Quatre climats habitables.

feu doux is an instrumental music duo composed of Christophe Lamarche-Ledoux (Organ Mood, Chocolat) and Stéphane Lafleur (Avec pas d’casque).

At the Festival de musique émergente in September 2012, Lafleur discovered Lamarche-Ledoux’s work and his Organ Mood project in a Rouyn-Noranda alleyway. Taken by the timeless, spellbinding music, he decided to use it as the soundtrack for his third feature film, Tu dors Nicole (2014). In addition to the already existing pieces, Lamarche-Ledoux composed some segments specially for the film. They ended this first collaboration with a promise to work together again soon in a form that they had not yet determined.

In 2015, author and director Félix-Antoine Boutin asked Lafleur to compose the music for his next theatrical creation, Animal mort, which was scheduled for 2016. Christophe joined forces with Lafleur, and together, they created the soundtrack for the show. However, Lafleur wasn’t fully satisfied because he wanted a project that would take him even further away from the folk singer-songwriter style of his group Avec pas d’casque.
